Reeva Steenkamp’s distraught parents share devastating revelation
They face heartache every day since the loss of their beloved daughter, and this weekend the parents of Reeva Steenkamp gave an emotionally-charged interview, amid speculation surrounding Oscar Pistorius’ release from jail.
The Steenkamps spoke candidly about the night of their daughter’s death during a segment on Channel Seven’s Sunday Night show.
Wiping away tears, Barry and June revealed that their 29-year-old daughter had packed her bags and was ready to leave Paralympian Pistorius on the night that she was shot and killed.
“He killed her. He admits he killed her. She is dead after he [Pistorius] made sure she was dead. Why didn’t he just let her walk away?” said Ms Steenkamp.
She continued: “What actually came out in court is not the truth. We know what we heard there is not right.”
Mr Steenkamp added: “People actually heard the screams and when he realised that had happened, he couldn’t stop. He had to carry on until it was finished.”
The Steenkamps interview comes in the same week that Pistorius expected to be released from prison, just 10 months into his five-year sentence. Two days before the athlete’s scheduled release however, the South African justice minister ruled that the decision was made ‘prematurely’, and Pistorius was denied parole.
Our hearts remain with the Steenkamps at this awful time.
