Hi, My partner and I are separating after 9 years, we have two kids, ds is 6, dd is 3. We live in a rented house. Our rent is 750 per month. My rent supplement limit is 560, that include the supplement I will get plus the contribution I make out of my one parent family payment.

What I want to know is if there is a way I can stay in this house with the kids and share the house with a house mate who will make up the difference in rent. Are house shares allowed when in receipt of r.s.?

TIA

If a person moves in it will affect your rent allowance.
You will need to make up the difference using your opfp and your childrens allowance.
I don't qualify for rent allowance so have to pay 600 a month out of my opfp and childrens allowance.

A few years ago we were living in a 4 bed rented house and getting rent allowance. BIL moved in with us, so we declared that and said we were using 3 of the rooms and we split the rent proportionally, and we kept our RA.

Sorry to hijack. Can anyone tell me what happens if your rent is increased about the cut off amount for rent supplement?
