Personally from that choice I'd pick a McGuigan or the Casillero del Diablo. I hate Vina Sol - can't understand the fuss about it TBH. In fact I struggle to find a nice Spanish wine and I'm not fussy!

For white I'd go for Santa Rita 120, nederberg or the two oceans pinot grigio

For red I'd go for McGuigan black label, Nederberg or Casillero del Diablo

Not a wine club member but my 2 cents :lookround:

White I would go for Lone Kauri (gorgeous!!) or Nugan..both sauv blanc and both delicious

Red..santa rita always goes down well here

Absolutely love the Sangre de Toro red ... The Chateauneuf du Pape is my No.1 pick but you're getting better value in the Toro for a party - not a white fan so no help there

I bought 6 bottles of the McGuigans Sauv Blanc today - €7 per bottle then an extra 10% discount if you buy 6 bottles. Its a lovely wine.

Of those in white I would absolutely go for the Lone Kauri Sauvignon Blanc - delighted it's back on offer again I'll get it myself for DS's communion. I don't know anyone who drinks white who doesn't like Sauvignon Blanc whereas I know loads of white drinkers who don't drink chardonnay or chenin blanc or the other flowery ones so I think the SB is the safest and Lone Kauri is gorgeous and amazing value in the sale.

For red I would be inclined to go for the Montepuliciano D'Abruzzo from Italy - absolutely gorgeous. Not much of a reduction but it is not generally an expensive wine. ONe of my favs from 20 years ago when M&S did it for £2.99.

Otherwise for middle of the road I think you can't go wrong with cabernet sauvignon and the Santa Rita is perfectly fine. The Alterra is one I've had before and it's nice too but if it's the same price as the Santa Rita I'd go with the Santa Rita.

Must get to SV later to stock up.
