Little girl with Down's syndrome giving it SOCKS on the dance floor goes viral!

Six-year-old Ana Malaniuk has Down’s syndrome, but she won't let that get in the way of her dance dreams, regardless of the setbacks she faces en route.

The little girl is taking the internet by storm after a video of her showing off her fierce dance moves during a mashup of Walk the Moon’s ‘Shut Up and Dance’ and Whitney classic ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ was shared on Facebook.

It’s her favourite hip-hop routine and it’s now been viewed over 14,000 times.

Whenever music comes on, Ana has always loved to dance, so mum Sonja Malaniuk decided to try and enroll her in dance class. But, it proved more difficult than she thought.

"We had a bad experience at one of the studios. We were told she wasn’t welcome, she wasn’t to their standards," Sonja told Global News.

So, on friends’ recommendations, Sonja contacted Amanda’s Academy of Dance who welcomed Ana with open arms.

"I just feel that it’s very important that any little girl or boy who wants to dance should be able to dance and be given the opportunity," said founder Amanda Desousa.

After a year at the studio, Ana is currently preparing for her first competition.

"She’s such a joy to have in class… She’s helped me grow as a teacher," Ana’s teacher Shae-Lyn Bates said.

And the little girl has grown in confidence. "She’s met so many friends," mum Sonja said.

"To see her on the stage, to see her with the teachers, to see her happy… It’s amazing to see that people are willing to give her a chance."
