Name some READ IT YOURSELF books for early readers please. Ds is finishing Junior Infants and has a good grasp of blending 3and4 letter words. He likes books but would like him to read himself too......

M&S do a great range. There are stories like The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Enormous Turnip or The Little Red Hen amongst some of them.

My kids loved them

In honour of the great Maurice Sendak who died last week the Little Bear series are oldies but goodies. They are also quite meaty so lots of reading in them.

we didn't have the Oxford Reading Tree books in school so DS enjoyed reading them himself (they have them in our local library and also have them on BOGOF in Easons at the moment). They have different levels to suit different ages.

If your DS is into superheroes, this range is brilliant: http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Batman- ... 0061878589 DS1 is not reading yet, but loves to have these read to him - he knows them by heart at this stage and can't wait to be able to read them himself.
