My DD is three weeks old today. She has always taken her bottles very well as in she enjoys them immensely

She was taking four oz siz times a day. As its difficult to wind her - to prevent air going into the teat of her bottle as she nears the end, I've started putting in five oz so she still has some in her bottle when she is finished and isn't sucking air from the empty bottle. I've been taking the bottle once she reaches 120 mls but today I let her have as much as she wanted and I've found that she's now taking nearly the full five oz at times. This can vary from anything between 100 to 145 mls every four hours but it usually is nearer the top end of the scale.

Should I be concerned that I'm overfeeding her as per the carton of Aptimal for a baby between 2-4 weeks she should be on four oz every five hours. She seems happy but sometimes I wake her for her bottle as I'm afraid to try and stretch the time between for longer as she's so small and both the midwife and PHN have advised to feed her every 3.5 - 4 hours?

I've previously read that a baby will only take as much as they need and if they overfeed they will throw it back up but my DD rarely does this. Any advice?

Congrats to you on your new arrival.
As soon as both my ds started finishing the 4oz bottles, I started increasing them, maybe every second bottle to start and sometimes they would leave some behind. Growth spurts made them like starvin marvins :-)

I would continue as your doing re increasing the oz's as she seems to need it. I wouldn't wake her though, she'll wake as she needs it. I know the PHN said to you but it's also only a guide. Your dd is a good weight and thriving and still only small so sleep is very important - for you both. :)

The guidelines on the box are just guidelines, they won't apply to all kids, by any means. I always increase the ounces once they start draining bottles.

Since I posted DD has reduced some of her bottles again and is sometimes having 100 mls and at times would take over 150 mls if she could. At times I feel she'd drink two bottles if I gave them to her!

I'm still trying to make sure that her bottles are frequent etc as I'd prefer her to feed more consistently. She suffers from bad gas and I'm anxious that the bigger bottles can make this worse for her. I'm not so worried anymore that I'm overfeeding her if she has more than less so many thanks for your replies!!!
