My DD is three weeks old today. She has always taken her bottles very well as in she enjoys them immensely
She was taking four oz siz times a day. As its difficult to wind her - to prevent air going into the teat of her bottle as she nears the end, I've started putting in five oz so she still has some in her bottle when she is finished and isn't sucking air from the empty bottle. I've been taking the bottle once she reaches 120 mls but today I let her have as much as she wanted and I've found that she's now taking nearly the full five oz at times. This can vary from anything between 100 to 145 mls every four hours but it usually is nearer the top end of the scale.
Should I be concerned that I'm overfeeding her as per the carton of Aptimal for a baby between 2-4 weeks she should be on four oz every five hours. She seems happy but sometimes I wake her for her bottle as I'm afraid to try and stretch the time between for longer as she's so small and both the midwife and PHN have advised to feed her every 3.5 - 4 hours?
I've previously read that a baby will only take as much as they need and if they overfeed they will throw it back up but my DD rarely does this. Any advice?
