It's been years since anyone was at this stage in my house, but have you tried Morhulin cream - it's very cheap and very effective.

Hope the bum clears up soon, poor baba

Having same prob with dd last few days. Nappy off as much as poss here and using canestan cream (as recommended by chemist) with caldesene powder over it when nappies are on.

It has helped a lot as her bum was red raw and weeping on sat all over where the nappy covers and the tops of her legs :nervous:

Nappy off as much as possible and always remember midwives telling me raw egg white whisked, never tried it though. Try Vaseline after airing bum.

I find some nappy free time every evening before bedtime helps keep nappy rash at bay. Have also used caldoseen (sp) in the past & found it very good.

+1 to nappy free time. As much air as possible will help. Also if you can get your hands on Metanium nappy ointment, I find it great. Poor thing, it can get so sore. Oh and dont forget some calpol/ibuprofen to help ease the pain.

DD also suffered badly with raw teething bum and we used canestan cream too, was the only thing that worked along with nappy free time and gently washing.

Dont know where you are based but we use Metanium cream...only avail up the north. Its like a magic cream IMO. The great thing bout it is that when u go to change the babies nappy even hours later the cream is still on the bum. You only use sparingly but it creates a brilliant barrier unlike any other cream Ive used. Highly recommended!!

+1 to metanium if you can get it. Apparently it was spotted in some tescos but I have necer seen it in the republic. If you can get some sent from the uk then do, widely available there you only need a tiny bit but it works miricles. I only have one tube left here otherwise I would have sent you some :-)

Egg white was the only thing that worked for my lo. I just dabbed it on with my fingers and left the bum exposed for as long as I could. It was unbelievable how quickly things improved.

Don't use wipes or water when cleaning bum as that stings . Use any olive oil or equivalent on cotton pad instead . Also if you have big bit cotton wool put that on after lashing on the cream as it's nice and soft as opposed to the rough nappy material . I'm near the north so if u need metanium I can post u a tube xx

We use waterwipes and then metanium. Having tried loads of different ones this is the only thing that works from first application. Like the other posters said the only problem is getting your hands on some.

Clean within cotton wool and water, bepantham cream and a light dusting of caldescene powder, after much trial and error that's what worked here. My DD's bum used to bleed, I remember the GP was a bit shocked.
