Thanks Littlebaba, hope you're not waiting too long more for the op, it must be frustrating waiting !

Lb we were told they wanted his weight to be stable and have a bit of fat on him, I'm sure you were told all about the signs to watch out for in Case they start causing trouble but see if your paediatric doc has any swing in it.
We initially started speech Theraphy because his eye contact was poor and was behind in smiling. He's babbling but doesn't imitate. She's not concerned he's not saying words yet because he has made such progress the last few months, all in good time.

Sorry kazzy never saw you had twins! Miss so much on the tiny phone screen!

I'll be accused of starting rumours  I was referring to a link she posted about a story about twins!!

Consultant said he'll get in touch with them and try and get things moving alright. We do know what to watch out for and it's not bothering him in the slightest, it's just me that's in a hurry to get it over and done with. In the grand scheme of things I know it's minor and nothing to be overly worried about.

LF it's brilliant to hear that he has made good progress over the last while :D must be a big relief. As you say all in good time. Now I must remind myself of that because I keep willing DS to smile at me...think I need to remember his adjusted age is only one week! It just seems like he has been here forever!

Oh dear! Sorry kazzy lol
I feel the same about the upcoming ops, the nor knowing & nor being able to plan, emotionally as well is hard.
I don't think we got smiles until about 17/18 weeks so 7/8 corrected. He didn't have much to smile about but now he has the most wicked sense of humour!

DD smiled at us at easter for the first time. I cant remember how old she was but she was due 7th March so whenever easter was in 2008!! :D

I had my scan last week and the consultant saw no signs of a dodgy placenta so she thinks i'm unlikely to get PET this time. Everyone is jumping for joy but I've still not managed to shift the impending doom hanging over me. Grrrrrr.

Excellent news Redb!! If there was any problems it would have raised it's ugly head by now but wooo, go for a termy lol
Kazzy one is enough, more than enough sometimes lol
We had a breakthrough at the weekend where DS stood for 1/2 second by himself ( I didn't push him out of my arms :lookround: to stand) and he finger fed himself his first dinner :) Little steps for little feet!

Kazzzzy that's brill about the weaning! And sleeping through the night too! Well done Emily :D

LF, wow, his first time standing!! Doesn't matter how long he stood for! You must be so proud of him! And finger feeding... All little steps as you say, but massive steps at the same time

Redb, great news about your scan. Understandable you are not jumping for joy yet. I guess you'll always worry til your baby is safely in your arms.

Anyone's preemie have problems with nasal congestion? DS is so bunged up at night that i have to sleep sitting up in the bed with him lying on my chest so that he is upright. I've tried everything-karvol, snufflebabe, a vaporiser, a humidifier.... His chest is clear (had chest xray at last check up), it's just his nose... Asked the synagis nurse about it and she said he'll grow out of it... So I guess what I want to know is when?? Lol

He's having his op on the 30th. Not too long to wait now.

Happy mother's day everyonr

It's not blocked tear ducts is it lb? Ask your paediatrian the next time you talk to them, simple massage to help release it. Always sounded like Ds had a blocked snuffly nose, sorted it's self out after a few months

Interesting LF. If he had blocked tear ducts would he be able to cry with tears? I have definitely seen him cry tears this week as he had an awful rash on his neck and was bawling when we were putting the cream on.

I just started baby massage this week and he loves his legs being touched but not his face! I'll keep trying!

I think it's like blocked sinus with a build up of pressure and it can cause discomfort. Pinch the top of his nose on either side & run your fingers along his cheek bone. Sure YouTube has a video on it. Massage was great for bonding because even after he came home I felt he wasn't mine

Hey girls, I hope there are still some of you floating around here - my little man was born at 26 + 1 last night and I'm pretty sure I'll be in need of a lot of advice and support over the next few months.

Hi sus_murf. Congrats on your little boy. How is he doing? And how are you? Probably still very shocked?

My little man was born at 25+2 in November. Ask any questions you want. Hope you're ok.

Hey sus_murf, congrats on your new arrival :) Hope you are doing ok, remember you need to look after yourself too. I wish I had premmie mums to talk to when I was in ICU so if there's anything you need to ask just fire away

How's your little man Sus-Murf? Hope things are progressing nicely and you won't have too much longer in ICU.
Our appointments have started up again with EIS, speech therapy, dieticians and OT. He's a busy fella! Still no signs of walking or talking but he does like to make me cry and then laugh at me. I may have a sadist on my hands :sly:

How's everyone doing?

Lotus, hope the appointments are going well?

Redb, how are you getting on? Glad to see you're at 35 weeks now. That's brilliant.

DS2 is doing well. Almost 12 lbs now and I think he has started teething

I went to a seminar yesterday about the emotional side of having a preemie. It was really great to meet other mothers of preemies. Just wondering now if any other mm's were at it!

I was going to go to that Littlebaba but it was too far away!
12lb what a little fatty :) I don't envy the teething at 20 months we are still teething bad, he doesn't get rashes or temps but just stops eating and gums everything. It's awful to see them in such distress

Our appointments are taking up any spare time I ever had! Our OT thinks he might have some sensory processing disorder so we are currently working through a program for the last two weeks. But all in all he's in great form and we got our first word during the week. not mama or dadda but DUCKA, I mean come on!!

How is everyone else? Redb you are nearly there wooo!

Aw lotus-ducka!! So cute! Hope the program helps him. So hard when you've loads of appointments. We had a lot of gp visits/hospital visits/appointments last month and it would wear you out. All quiet again now and I'm so glad.

That's a pity about yesterday. You're obviously not Dublin based. One girl did comment that it's difficult when you're not in Dublin as everything seems to happen here. Wonder would I have "recognised" you if you were there!

Your poor little fella with his teeth. It must be so sore for them. Hoping DS2 will be the same as DS1. Never knew he was teething til a tooth came up. Just wondering about DS2 as his nappies are rotten and he's started dribbling a lot. He just seems too small to be getting teeth.

I think DS started teething around 10 months actual, lots of gumming things and red cheeks. He could be starting Littlebaba, but maybe just another while before you see one! We know know with the stinkers of nappies, he stands in the corner with a big guilty face and I poke him and say stinky! He screams laughing with his hands to his mouth, very cute and makes changing it easier lol
I thought that course was an excellent idea, I didn't feel emotionally right for at least a year, longer even. All the focus is on the baby and the mother gets overlooked. IPB are great for arranging it.
I got new era teething tablets, they are excellent and they calm them down so it's great for those frantic teething times.

Hi sharhyland, great to hear little Fionn is home. That was some amount of weight he lost-must have been very scary alright. I remember feeling so gutted any day I went in to the hospital and DS had lost even a few grams. Were any of your other boys preemies?

How's everyone else doing? It's been very quiet in here for a while!

We are fine here, 2nd birthday next month eck! Still not walking or talking so seeing lots of people but we are very lucky we are in the system. I made an album showing his size growth last week & found so hard that he was ever that small, he's bloody huge to me now and we all grunt lifting 20lb fatty lol
