God love you you're really going through the mill for this.

It's very refreshing to read your updates though. I imagine there's a lot of people that were previously saying "I'd love a tummy tuck" that are now thinking "well, it's maybe not so bad afterall"

Wishing you a speedy recovery to fully health and fitness.

Would love to get this done in a yr or so,like others the big babies have really made an impact on my stomach and when they come out i'm left with flabby skin that no exercise will shift and the rest of me is thin :( Can i ask if you had stretchmarks and if so are they gone now? Hope you feel better soon too x

All I can say is fair play to you. It doesn't sound like the nicest op to have but you seem so positive and making light of it.
I feel like a wuss now going on about my knee pmsl. Hope the pain eases and the recovery gets easier day by day. Sending speedy recovery vibes hun

As one of the "I'd love to have a tummy tuck" lot I can safely say that it's refreshing to hear the honesty from the OP which is so often lacking from the post tt posts I've previously read, but it does not affect my desire to have the operation done at all. I also know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Anybody who is serious about wanting one is not naive enough to think it would be any different to what is being described here.
It is major surgery and when you are told by your surgeon that it will take 4 days in hospital and 6 weeks recovery it kinda leaves no illusion that its going to be sore.

I'm amazed you can see the results so soon, imagine what it will be like in a few weeks. How much longer do you wear the garment? Do you mind if I ask some practical questions? What is it like to sneeze or go to the toilet, I fear it'll feel like your entire insides are going to come out your scar, is this the case? I'm nearly more afraid of this than the pain.

I'm another one that would love one but after 3 sections and several abdominal surgeries I'm not brave enough to put myself through it when the kids are so young. Reading the ops posts just confirm it for me.

One day maybe.....

I have to wear the garment for 6 weeks. I going to see the consultant Tuesday week. Im getting my wound dressed this Tuesday. Should be fun.

Regarding sneezing, coughing, laughing, its very uncomfortable. If I need a cough I have to hold a pillow to my tummy .

Got my dressings changed today and all is looking good. My new belly button was a bit yuck but that's to be expected. I have quite a bit of swelling too, more on one side so I have to take it easy and drink water and try and eat loads of protein based meals to flush it out of me. My 2yo kicked me in the tummy tonight and I nearly had a heart attack. The pain was excruciating . So dh made me tea and went to the shop for a star bar. He's a gem.

I'm feeling ok, only ok. I'm dying to get back to normal as in back to work, driving, proper cuddles withmy baby, hoovering . I'm peed off doing nothing. But other than that I'm grand. Scar still very stingy so I'm still taking painkillers.

Tip for anyone getting a Tt. Shave all your Mary . I didn't do any tidying and yesterday when I was getting my dressings changed I also got a little wax, but it was a slow one. It hurt like Feck.

Not good today. Ended up in a+e as the phn suspected I had an infection. I had a referral letter so I got seen to straight away. Seen the plastics reg and she said I don't have an infection. My belly button is gooey but not infected. Thank god. I thought I had a seroma but I don't. I was bricking it that I had an infection. She said I need to take more pain meds. I was trying to be brave and come off them but she said since its such a big op not to underestimate it. I need to take it very very easy so that suits me, for an hour, and then I'm up again putting on washing , mopping floors etcetc. Oh and eating

oh god tummytucker that's not good at all.. really hope the infection stays away & WILL YOU DO WHAT YOU'RE TOLD MADAM.
Although easier said than done I know.
I was trying to be brave today and tried to walk without my crutches but my knee just went on me & i think i've kind of twisted it again or something, same thing i did the other night

What are us women like, if a man had these op's they'd be laid up in bed not moving to fart , for a month lol

This evening has to be the worst pain wise. I was at my check up today so lots of poking and prodding. I also went on a walk to collect the babby from creche. I shouldn't have walked anywhere. I'm in bits tonight . I took my tramadol so I'm waiting for that to kick in. I think this is the real deal. All the morphine and local anesthetic has worn off. :( dh is doing my head in too. I need some sympathy but I'm not getting it here. Getting up and down off the couch is even sore.

Healing is great ATM. My belly button is no longer icky and smelly. My wound is weeping and bleeding in a very small area. I'm going to see a nurse about that today.

I had that awful stomach bug last week and it was he'll. Tmi when I was liking my whole body was spasming and the pain in my stomach area was terrible. But it was only 24 hrs.

You really don't realize what you use your stomach muscles for. Mashing potatoes is quite difficult and uncomfartable. You know if you drop something and you react and try and catch it, well that's sore too. I can let myself sneeze too if I need yo but I have to hold by stomach. Coughing is a little uncomfortable too. All in all though I'm nearly 100% recovered. I'm dying to get moving properly, like go for a good sweaty walk or even do a class. I'm not to do anything strenuous until after 6 weeks.

A great advantage is my boobs look and feel bigger as my stomach is smaller. Also I still have to wear my garment so my boobs are pushed up and out. Dh is delighted.

I'm back in the hospital on 1st may for my final review.

Havent bought any new clothes yet as I'm waiting another few weeks until the swelling is gone down.

So was the pain worth it? I've always said I was having a tummy tuck done when I was finished having babies. I'm finished having babies but had my first c-section on my last baby a few wks ago. I had a very rough time during and after it and it was a very worrying time for us. I'm now thinking I would never have any surgery that wasn't necessary. A complete turnaround. Preggo belly is slowly going down and all the wrinkly, horrible excess skin is returning. Just wondering if you knew before you had the op what you were going to go through, would you still have done it?

Does anybody going for a tummy tuck expect it to be any different to what has been described? Perhaps not that you would get a kick in the tummy from a 2 yr old but I would have thought the rest to be at least kinda of expected. It is major surgery and the consultants make you very aware of that before you go for it.
Anybody who is very serious about having it done/needs to get it done will be under no illusions about what is to be expected afterwards.
I know I for one really appreciate the honesty from Tummytucker but if/when I go for it myself I would have known what to expect and will still be willing to go through it.

Do you know what, when I used to talk about having a TT, I knew it was major surgery, of course I did but I just didn't think beyond that. I've seen one done on TV and still said I was going to get it done. I knew a c-section was major surgery but until I actually went through it, I didn't realise what that actually would physically mean for me. My C Section wasn't your normal run of the mill one (I had some complications) but I am very shaken after it all. I definitely am glad I read this thread and for tummy tucker's honestly. Right now (still feeling pretty weak and rotten) I'm thinking, God no way could I put myself through that but I am also thinking that once I start feeling back to myself and my tummy goes down, and the flabby belly comes back, I might start to think differently again. Just wondering if the OP would have still gone through it knowing what she knows now and for her was the pain worth the result at the end? I have another operation to have to in 6 months following on from my recent pregnancy and I'm dreading it. I hate my tummy though and would so love it to be all nice and flabby skin free but am now torn about whether to get it done or not. I suppose that's natural the way I feel at the moment.

I feel like you do daffodil. Ive had 3 sections and numerous other abdominal and other surgeries and don't think I could go through it. I wouldn't be able to manage the kids for a start and would feel guilty on dh and anyone else who had to help me. I'd still love to have the nerve but I don't at the moment.

Was it worth it? Yes. I am still the see the final result as im still swollen. I have been a bold girl of late as I'm not wearing my compression garment all the time. It has lost it's stiffness and some elasticity so it's more of a hindrance than anything.

I can wear normal knickers, yay. No more high waisted ones. The lower ones used to get eaten by my overhang and the would last about 1 minute on me. No joking. I would put them on finish getting dressed and then I would have to change to granny Pants. I have a drawer full of knickers that were never worn for more than a minute at a time. So in a sense I have loads of new underwear.

Regarding my dress size I haven't gone down just that I don't have the ferrett hanging outta me. My clothes actually fit better and I'm not trying to hide my belly anymore.

I don't have much disposable cash ATM so a shopping spree won't be happening in the near future. :(

I'm 5 weeks and 2 days post op and I'm dying to go back to work. I'm bored and eating lots. I'm going back next week, I think I'm ready.

Scar Is itchy as feck.

Back with consultant on 1st may for my final review. Everything is good so there shouldn't be any problems.

Well gotta get back to my usual mm persona, she has been very quiet lately.

Tt
