Jesus I don't think I can cope with this for much longer. I just seem to have way too many balls in the air and too much pressure.

I fell on Monday evening and pulled ligaments in my foot. Dd2 got sick all over the bed on the same night. Both girls are ending up sleeping in with me at night. I can't give work my full attention at all. Meant to have an exam at end of April and nothing done for it.

Flying over to DH Saturday morning. MIL and FIL bringing up SD from Kerry for us - which is good of them but they want to stay the weekend , so need to get house in shape and can barely walk. And then she phones looking for a lift from hueston at half nine on Friday night - never mind I can't drive, or that kids will be in bed at that stage.

Donnie, you sound completely overwhelmed and I'm so sorry. You are going to have to be very firm (in a nice way) with your in-laws and tell them that they are going to have to get a taxi.
How is your foot today? Are you still working? Any way you can take the next 2 days off. It will give you time to rest your foot (VERY IMPORTANT!) and hopefully you can do some prep work for your exam then too. As for the house - pfft! I wouldn't worry about it (actually if I were you and my mil were coming to visit - i'd be worrying like a maniac, but you have to prioritise). Any way you can get someone to come in for an hour or two and give it a lick?
Just think of seeing DH and letting him take over with the kiddies on Saturday. x

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted on here in a while, actually didn't realise it had been so long. I know what you all are going through.
missvelvet, that must have been harrowing and brought back some bad memories but you absolutely did the right thing for those kids.
Donnie hope that the ILs will get the message and get a taxi and you can't have the place looking perfect if you can hardly walk, so they will just have to live with it! Easier said than done though, I know.
Life has got a little easier for me since I started working from home in Jan. DH was home for Xmas and then got a surprise week home in Jan due to strikes where he is working. It was good to see him but it seems like it has been a long stretch this time and he's not due home until easter sat. I am literally counting the days and feeling sorry for myself because of mother's day and my birthday next week and he won't be around for it and if I'm honest probably won't even attempt to send something via the internet regardless of the amount of hints that I've dropped!!!
We have booked a few days away when he is home, which I am really looking forward to but I would also really love to have a couple of nights away on our own but don't think it's fair to DS, they need to spend as much time together as possible.
So just really getting on with things and with no end in sight at the moment. DH went for another job which was more money but more importantly more holidays but he didn't get it due to the fact that he doesn't have a degree and it was required as it was a government job :-(

Hi girls - all quiet here??

We had a nice weekend over with DH but never ever travelling with three kids on my own again!! Thought the 12 year old would be a help but totally the opposite. Oh well, live and learn.

We are spoilt this weather, DH was home last weekend for dd1's birthday and will be back again this day week for ten days. Can't wait.

Discovered one big disadvantage of living in a manless house - fecking mice!! They got into our shed as we had birdseed in there. But mil left back door open the weekend we were away and some got in. Tried those sonic things but ended up setting traps and having to dispose of two tiny little ones - still one more there I reckon - hope to god its not too big.

Hi Donnie
Yeah the thread is gone very quiet. I guess everyone is kept so busy. dp is 6 months working away now but home every weekend which is good. Really used to it at this stage but I do miss his company sometimes & having to do everything in the house & for both boys can be pretty tiring too. Thankfully ds2 is now sttn so thats making a huge difference.

The weather is fantastic. Roll on the easter holidays :)

That's great news Sandra, is he home for long? You must be all so excited, 14 weeks is a long time.

All ok here, home alone at the moment, but sure you get used to it :lookround:

Hey Kooky, he is home for 16 days.....not very long but I don't even want to think about that at the moment!

It has been a rough 14 weeks, DD and myself have been really sick, I got a promotion to a new job so I have been really hectic at work and seem to always have a million things to get done at the weekend so never seem to get time for a rest but sure you just keep going don't you!

Am looking forward to having him back, doing some fun things together as a family and maybe even getting a lie on!!!!

Ah that's a good break with him and yes don't think about it and try to enjoy every minute.

Have to say hats off to you, it can't be easy juggling it all and your DD is so young.

I don't find it too bad as my two are older and much more self sufficient, I'm still in bed now and they are up and have fed themselves. :D

WOW! just posted asking how many of us are in the same situation!
DH is leaving in Sept and I'll be alone with DS, who will be 18 mnths. I've no family and not many friends either, so I'm scared. I even though about flying MIL over here to help me, but havibg secobd thoughts.
Hope to make more friends in my area.

Welcome to the club gabyfer  ...as you can read all of us are going to fases, but most of the time we are ok. Being on your own is tough, but you will make it work!

Once you get into a routine it's not so bad. I find though it does put the relationship under some strain. Been doing it since November but moving over to join him at the beginning of July so hopefully they break will have done us good

gabyfer, as the others have said, it will take a little getting used to but you will get there. Is there no way you can go with him, your little one is an ideal age for making the move, so much more difficult when schools have to be taken into account. In the meantime take the time now to enjoy being together until September.

Donnie, best of luck with the move, exciting times ahead for you all.

No chance for us to go at least in Sept, but he'll check everything out for me and DS first and perhaps we'll join him in January. Fingers crossed though, cause he needs to get a visa for Russia first, please God he'll get it. DH has been unemployed for a while now and was getting vwry depressed, so this job will not only be great for him, but also a huge income. Say a little prayer for us, we really need this...

thanx Sandra Dee! I'm really worried about the visa, but I'm also anxious about being on my own.

An Sandra, that's a long stretch, hope you enjoyed the few weeks you had together.

All going okay here, just getting on with it really. DH is here at the moment and will be for a other 3 weeks, after that though the trips away are short enough for a while so it's a bit better.

Shellebelle, that sounds quite unsettling on everyone, you hardly get time to get used to all being together and he's off again.

It must be tough on your DH too being sent to all different places. At least my DH goes to the same place all the time, at this stage he just goes with hand luggage as he has everything he needs over there in his second home :D

Best of luck with the exams, you should be proud I'd yourself getting this far while holding everything together alone for a lot of the time.

Havn't posted in a long time. Hope everyone is keeping well..

A change here too. DP got a new job (still in another county) but its more what he wanted to do & a pyarise too so hes happy :) Hes nearly 8mths working away now. Home fri night @ 8.30 & leaves mon morn @ 4.45am so only see him really the 2 full days. Its working out ok in that I am happy he has a job & it does make life much better financially.

The boys & me are in a good routine but I am finding it exhausting with ds2 who is a model baby during the day - really good natured/placid/smiley but come the night its anyoens guess when he'll wake up. Usually twice a night every single night -sometimes more & then ds1 is up at crack of dawn each morning so i do be wrecked by the time DP gets home on fri eves but he gets up wtih ds2 fri/sat so its a break.

Do you find you get much alone time with your DP when hes home? I dont' get out in the evenings during the week at all. nobody to mind boys so feel really stuck in. I usualy head out sat night but then I hardly see DP & feel that the little time hes here we need to spend time together & be a couple as well as parents. so kinda caught as need to get out of the house for a break too & to see friends. what do you do?
