Calories will lead to weight loss, nutrients to health. So if the goal is happy and healthy and slim - then both are important.

I think, it's about balance between good foods and bad - but I don't think you need to eat salads if you don't want to - just eat more cooked veg. Veggies are low calorie and rich on nutrients so more veggies and fruits in your diet is definitely a good thing.

For weight loss no - you can eat 1400 cal of chocolate, and will still lose weight. Mind you if you pick well 1400 of veg and fruit, dairy, egg, meat and fish, wholegrains, nuts and beans, oat and that type of thing it will leave you feel fuller and more able to stick to your diet.

No exercise here today - am in "repair" mode here. Will easily keep under 1400 today - had the calorie burning soup and weight watchers bread again and then because I was starving an hour later cous cous and salad!

Having potatoe wedges second night in a row with tacos and lovely chili :-) No cheese though - as yummy as it is!

Not too sure about the carb thing skelly. I'm kind of a carbs girl myself in the evening.

Alexsmum you very bold! (We will say nothing about me splashing out for the entire weekend!!) I think though if I stay away from fries and wine and stick to spirits I should be okay on the hen - I prob won't be 1400 but shouldn't be anymore then 1700. I will have pasta one evening though. It'll be all the nicer having had to avoid it for the past few weeks :-)

I am the same. I have spoonful of wholegrain basmati with my dinner, and also few potatoes in the stew tonight. I also eat pasta at least once weekly, and love oats. I don't see any harm in eating this way. I also have pizza once weekly, but don't get the takeway one - just getting plain margarita from Italian restaurant (oddly cost lest then dominos) or DH is making one from scratch.
I don't eat much bread, I don't like sliced pan but sometimes I get fresh bread and cheese from SQ as treat.

I wasn't happy on low carb and when I have low carb salad for lunch get the high carb fruit for snack - like bananas and grapes. I even like manuka honey with yoghurt, and regularly have it.

Deer, what will you wear???? Did you get something? For sure you shouldn't worry about weight loss on your hens. It's just wrong to be good at such time! Where are you off to for it anyway?

I got an orangey red dress in oasis for tomorrow night and an electric blue chiffon one for Saturday night - I'll post them up on wayw :-) We are going to Limerick - should be fun! It will be nice to have all my friends together also - the days of girly weekends are long gone. I have just had tan and nails done and getting make up trial and hair trial tomorrow so I'll be looking respectable :-)

When I did atkins years ago it worked so well my mum who had gone away for six weeks thought I had a drug problem when she came back as I had lost two and a half stone in the six weeks. It took a year or so for the weight to come back. However my doctor when I went to him for something was not impressed. He thought from the smell of the ketones from me that I was about to go into a diabetic coma or something. I eat them now, not a huge amount but with something like pasta - I would eat a huge plate of it so I keep away from it at the moment as I have no restraint if it's there in front of me. You should have seen me in Italy over the summer! Heaven!! Its the same with white bread - if I'm going to have it I prefer bakery and not a sliced pan. The calories have to be worth it! We are so lucky to have a great market with great food in Cork - the English Market. There are some great fresh food stalls there but don't go when your hungry...

If I want to have a high carb dinner I don't have meat with it just to keep the calories down.

http://www.skinnytaste.com/

I have even on 23th 13 days ahead. I will really track until then, I would like to see 2 of the last 3 pounds gone by then. I will check my weight on Friday morning and report results here.

all inspired from this webside to cook now, some things look great! 3 weeks left only until the end of the challange, let's make them count!

actually, I dont! lol he is way too body builder look for me. I was actually very disapointed when I sow him after I read the book.

I never been into bodybuilder looking guys. I am into suitheads, blue eyed, freckly and if bold even better - had to be inteligent and career driven. That's why I spend so much time on my own while dh goes after exiting projects!

I am thinking of making a blog for food I cook, for my own referance but we will see if I get time to do it.

I am in realy big healthy cooking kick today! I have been bit lazy and using ham in my salads - I am steaming chicken breast for that instead.

Made massive bacon & bean and veg minestrone - it came at 33 calories for 100 g and it's sooo yummy! So had this for lunch with 10g of chilli black chocolate - it only adds up to 330 calories for both.

Afternoon sipping glass of vino (120ml, not huge I am not alcho!) while cooking
massive pot with chicken and veg roast - haven't calculated calories yet but it have
onion
carrots
courgettes
yellow and green pepper
chicken breast (dh)
few chicken tighs (me and ds). I put them with skin as I don't put oil and the skin flavers the dish - but remove it before serving
leek
passata
hymalayn pink rock salt (cos it's pretty) greek spice mix, tons of fresh corriander and parsley - in the oven for few hours. Didn't have space left for potatoes this time

in the mean time I did put cast iron grill pan in the oven to make it sizzling hot - and in two hours will make mackrel on with with lemon and sald & big salads and few potatoes.

My frige is so loaded with veg, I broke the veg box! Now DH sleeping (whatching match) DS is playing with his toys and I will come up with meal plan for the weekend.

Grils, since I started the challange DH lost 6 kg. I am so proud of him - he have tried many times before but this really stick to eating my healthy cooking and avoiding takeways - he is lighter then he was 15 years ago!

I think I would scare myself if I calorie counted this weekend. Cocktails, cava, shots and full fat coke. My jeans are still fitting though on the upside :-)

I am going to plough full scale into shred tomorrow again and LOADS of fruit and veg - I actually missed them over the weekend!

Alien that chicken dish sounds amazing. My dp is after losing weight too - delighted as was getting worried about him. And he's learned that fruit and veg are the way to go!

I'd def be interested in your food blog to get some ideas.that's why I asked about.the carbs the other day,I'm being a bit lazy and I need to get a bit more creative.
My dh is also changing his eating habits and has started back to rugby training.I can't wait to see him with a six pack again. :inlove:
Although I'm sure he can't wait to see me trimmed down a bit aswell!

I don't want to post it here yet, as it's really very unprofessional looking but if someone want to have a look I will pm you!

I have few of my favorites already
minestrone
hummus
green monster

and plan to add oatmeal pancakes and banana softie soon.

I haven't made the recepies up, I read them, addapted them, and keep forgetting how was I making them - so I hope to get them in one place for referance.

had some sushi with rice and salmon - few peaces only 160 cal. 620 calories so far
