Hi

Can anyone who has went on the Supervalu self catering breaks give me an idea of the actual charge for electricity. We are looking at them for August so heat shouldn't be needed.

Thank you
J

We've done a few self-catering breaks in Ireland and have paid anything from EU12 to EU30 per week. The most expensive was in August (Salthill), it was chilly in the evenings so had to turn on the heat for a few hours each night. HTH

Some places have a fixed fee. Quality hotel self catering cottages are €10 a day extra. Non negotiable. A complete rip off

I have seen this on the supervalu site too, it is a rip-off, they should have it built into the so called sale prices if it's not negotiable

It differs where you stay - some charge you the metre price - others set a flat daily or weekly fee - its a pure rip off, it should be factored into the cost - the house costs enough as it is.

That's what I think too. We are looking at a week in the lodges in the Blarney Golf Resort through the Supervalu breaks but I don't want to have to pay an extra €70 for electricity. That's more than a months worth in the summer. Certainly don't want to have to pay for heat in the summer.

We stayed in the Avon Ri last year it was a standard 10 a day, so 70 euros for the week, a couple rip off, as there is no way we used that much electricty middle of august and we were out of the houses all day. Have a look around the site, alot of the houses actually include the electricy.
I think if they are going to charge for Electricty, it should be a token base, where you buy a token at reception for €10 at the time.

Tha Blarney Golf Resort on Supervalu doesn't mention anything about heat and electricity charges at all. I'll give them a ring before booking I think. Thanks for the replies everyone.

We booked with Supervalu last Summer and I think we paid about 30eur for the week in August. We cooked most days, wash every second day and the heating for an hour in the morning and evening. Had a fab week in Castletownbere.

The electricity is included in the price for the Lodges at the Blarney Golf Resort.

This is what puts me off booking a lot of places in Ireland. Whenever I booked a villa abroad these were factored into the price.

I know it's good to be transparent but €700 for a place for one week and then esb and heating on top is a totally ott.

If you book the Quality Hotel in Youghal directly i.e. ring them up and ask them to give you the supervalu rate they don't charge for electricity. We've never had to pay with the Quality in Youghal.

Hi chyna, do you know if the same applies if you book it online? We have booked for June and did it online..am hoping we don't get stung for 70e electicity charges..it's extortionate! Thanks.
