Oh the poor little mite due feb.
It's really tough on them isn't it. Dd2 is exhausted also. She is as white as snow with big black bags under her eyes. I'm hoping she will fall asleep on the couch here. I might have a snooze myself then too. I'm wrecked. Was in and out to her every 20/30 mins from about 2am this morning.

Wendy wanted to update. We were with DS's ENT consultant last week re grommets and I mentioned to him that we'd be back to see him before long as I think DD needs her tonsils out. So he said sure we'll take a look at her now and he had a quick look in her mouth and he said straightaway that she had classic chronic tonsil something or other and yes, she is a candidate for taking them out and he'd get her on his list. Said he would contact my GP for her notes. So, that was so simple....he could tell in 2 seconds what was wrong with her and my GP just keeps sending me off with more antibiotics and never mentions getting them out. She was just finishing her third antibiotic in 6 weeks at this stage and one of her tonsils still had puss filled nodule on it. Am so stressed about it all, but hope that he will hurry her on a bit now and hope my GP doesn't get in a snot because I kind of by passed him......

That is a great update due feb especially for your DS. Really hope he is not waiting too long. And I wouldn't be worrying about your GP.
We got a private appt for DD2 for 21st March so hopefully soemthing comes out of that.

In the meantime you could try manuka honey....a teaspoon every day...the middle strength one....it has some sort of antibiotic thing going on in it and is particularly good for sore throats, colds etc.....

My daughter suffers with swollen tonsils (usually at bed time!!!) but she takes the Manuka honey every day and it does help!!

MMMM good question, its quite strong, but put a small bit of hot water (not boiling) into a cup, dissolve the manuka honey into it and get her to drink it down in one go!! The trick is to get it down quickly.....have a glass of water handy.... My daughter now thinks the taste is ok, not great now but ok!!!

Wendy how is your dd now?
I'm off to the doc again at 5:20 with dd2
She's been coughing and crying during the night with her throat and the same bloody ear again.
I just know he's going to say its her tonsils again.
The poor thing is just lying here she has no energy at all

Did you ask your doc about putting your dd on the list to get them out or did he suggest it to you??

Hi Wendy,
You could also try a teaspoon of the manuka honey in a cup of warm milk before going to bed. My little one loves that when she is not well.

I really hope things get sorted for her soon. Poor pet.

Dd2 is doing good this week I have to say. Fingers crossed we will get a bit of a break from it now. I said it to GP about a referral.
She has since been diagnosed with asthma and they have also made a huge difference.

So glad I came across this thread, both boys have awful tonsillitis too. So sorry to hear about all the sick kiddies

DS1 is on his 5th round of Klacid since December and I'm worried now that he's becoming resistant to it, started the new round 5 days ago and no improvement yet. Thankfully they have a great gp and she's going to put me in touch with an ent for him.

DS2 started Augmentin Duo two weeks ago for it but after two days on it he was only getting worse, he temp kept spiking so bad and we ended up rushing him to A&E with a temp of 41.2. They swabbed his tonsils and said he has an abscess and the tonsillitis was severe so they put him on Calvepen, thankfully he improved dramatically on that within two days. He's due his last doses tomorrow and I just know that within a few days it will all start all over again.

It's really stressing me out, the sky high temps were horrendous, we're all getting cabin fever and we really can not afford all these gp trips and antibiotics :(

I thought they weren't meant to get the same anti biotic within a specific space of time i.e. DD2 was on augmentin at one stage and she needed another anti biotic 3 weeks later, but wasn't allowed the augmentin again iykwim..she had to have a different one. Maybe that could be why your DS1 is becoming 'immune' to the Klacid.
Now I could be completely wrong but that is the impression I got from my GP

I brought dd to the doc on Friday and he gave her the same anti biotic - that's the third lot of the same one this year and the last time she had a ten day stretch of it( 2 bottles)

Well he said she has tonsillitis AGAIN :onfire:
Along with a chest infection and an ear infection.

He is not happy that she got all 3 so quickly and he's quite concerned about the amount of times she's had an ear infection in the last year so he's referring her to crumbling to get her ear and throat checked out.

Poor little thing with all those infections but great that she's being referred.
