Yes, I always make time for us as a couple and also for me on my own away from the kids. I know I'm in the minority here on MM in my thinking, but I can go away for a few days with only a fleeting thought for the kids. I'm lucky to have family nearby, but there's times we pay a babysitter too. Or I mind my friends kids and then she'll mind mine in return.

I'm in the same minority as you so. I think it is just as important to spend alone time with my DH as it is to spend time with my children.

We try and get a couple of nights away together every year. I miss my kids but they are fine and I get over missing them very fast.

Same here. We do make time for dates & the odd night or two away. Once a year (funds providing) we go away for 4 nights. Alone.
My folks are great & love having the kids. They also know it is important to have a little bit of time to ourselves. Even to get into bed early......and sleep.
I also will pay the babysitter for nights out, etc.

By whatever means possible......

We do but it takes a bit of effort at times to organise time together away from the house and kids with the hours oh works. We are going out tomorrow night for a few drinks, babysitter booked. This is our first night out together in a few weeks. Oh is checking out hotel deals on the laptop right now for a break away for us without the kids sometime soon.

Yes and No, we try to go out together for a meal or cinema every 2 weeks but it usually ends up once a month.

When we just had the two kids it was easier to get away overnight as they were bigger and a lot less hassle than minding a baby who likes to get up at 6am. I think when he is toilet-trained it will be easier again. I have a brother who is single and would happily stay and mind the older two but isn't keen on poopy bums at all(can't say I blame him  )

My sister would happily have stayed overnight on the odd occasion but now has a tosser of a boyfriend.

In saying all that my friend is having the three overnight next week when we go to a wedding, am hoping ds2 sleeps late that day and you never know, she might do it again

I do go out without dh fairly regularly and I always take time for myself everyday when he comes home as I need space too

No , not anymore :( I do think it's very important to have time to just be together, no kids, even if it's only every so often. We're due new baby soon so chances of us getting time alone are slim to none.

We never get time together. Even within the house. When dd goes to sleep without fail she wakes up at some stage and won't go back to sleep unless I sit with her.

Actually I tell a lie, we work for the same company and the odd day we could be in the same office as each other!

Same as this. I'm looking forward to getting back to work so we can do lunch together a couple of times a week.

We do generally have a nice late grown up dinner and a film at home once a week but even at that the baby will be in my arms. It'll pass though, eventually...

I guess we're pretty lucky in that we have two great little sleepers (hope I haven't put a hex on it now by putting that in print). I'm a fitness instructor and teach classes every weekday night and DH works every weekend night doing sound and light tech in clubs and stuff. But every night I come home from my classes he or I cooks something and we eat together and have a wee glass of wine and watch an episode of something (currrently Mad Men) and there is lots of "pause it for a min" and we discuss... and go off into other things.... and laugh... and it's nice :) We never get nights OUT together, but we definitely get time together as a couple.

No. We got out for a meal at Christmas but nights out are rare. Having a toddler who does not go to bed till 10pm at least means we rarely get any time to ourselves at home either.

Yes we do and I would completely crack up if we didn't.
Both sets of parents live within 10 minutes of us and help a lot. As someone else said it's easier when you only have 1.
We go to electric picnic every year.
Going to Lisbon in July just the two of us. Can't wait

We get a babysitter once or twice a month and go out for dinner, I go out with friends or my sisters about once a month and we get the odd overnighter if we have a wedding, it's harder now we have three, it's a big ask to get them minded.
Dh works most evenings from home, so if we don't organise to go out he would work. We try and watch a movie together now and then.

Yes, quite a bit thankfully. We have my sister nearby who is very good for babysitting, particularly if we just want to go to the cinema or a quick bite to eat, and also have a great girl from the creche who would babysit maybe once a month. Will be lost without them.

We don't get to go out together alone very often but at least twice a week when the kids are in bed we will cook, watch a movie, share a bottle of wine, listen to music etc.

Me and dh got away for a night last saturday :D we really enjoyed it! That was our first night away in three years. It took alot of planning and ds3 and ds4 were sobbing when we left :( But we never get time alone, we always have great chats at bedtime, there's always someone hanging around in the evenings! So when we go to bed we could chat for an hour or more
I do long for the day we can get to be X and Y and not just mammy and daddy!! Going out for dinner without having rush because ds4 is goin mental at the table and browsing in shops oh I miss that!
