And, if so, do you make pancakes normally? We have pancakes here about once a fortnight, so I don't bother with them on Pancake Tuesday unless I was planning them anyway. So, am I missing something? I suppose once the kids start school they'll have to be able to say they had pancakes the night before?

Yeah!! We have pancakes (the thick kind) fairly often, but tomorrow I'll make them crepe like like I grew up with. I cannot wait!!!

I'll make the girls the thick, small kind for their breakfast and the crepe kind for dinner.

Ds1 is pancake mad and I've been making them quite regularly for the last month or two - he's just had one for his tea.

I just wish ds2 would eat them as he needs to be fattened up a little. I wouldn't be a fan of them.

Always do Pancake Tuesday and would eat pancakes at the weekends on an almost weekly basis. I only do crepes tomorrow though, at weekends we have the thick American style ones.

My oldest two are just amazed at the thoughts of pancakes for dinner. It's like all their wishes have finally come true

Is it a different recipe for the American style ones, or do you just use a smaller pan?

 I'm the same - was going to make them today for lunch but just didn't get round to it and will be working tomorrow so the boys will be eating at the childminder's. Maybe she's not a mean mammy like me and they'll have them there :D

The batter is thicker and the pancakes are smaller and thicker (about the size of a small plate). I much prefer the crepe type, don't like the American style at all.

They are called Drop Scones or Scots Pancakes on this side of the Atlantic. I prefer making them as I can cook 3 on the pan at the one time but DS prefers the thin pancakes.

We have pancakes once a week and DS insists on having them on Pancake Tuesday - he hoovers them up!

How would you do pancakes for dinner? What would you have with them?

I would make a mixture of a tin of condensed mushroom soup, butane it thick so only add half tin of milk, some onion and chopped up chicken. (Similar to a vol au vont mixture). Then cook a pancake, put mixture on one half and fold over. Serve with wedges.

we have crepes on pancake tuesday - normally mum makes them for us but she's away so i might have to attempt making them.
i fill them with savoury fillings - like chicken and mushroom or spinach and cheese.

we have american pancakes nearly every weekend - DH makes them.

Recipe is different, you sometimes separate the eggs and whisk the whites to make them lighter, they usually have a bit of baking powder to make them rise and being American sugar too

Yes we always do. But this year my kids are 3 hours away at my mum's and are too sick with flu to travel home (along with everyone else in the house they have infected).

And I am too sick to travel down to pick them up or make the pancakes for that matter...

I am really missing them.

Yes, any excuse for pancakes.

In the past I haven't bothered some years as we'd eat them regularly, i'd have thm the day before or after, but I haven't made them that often recently so have a huge batch of batter made up for breakfast lunch & dinner tomorrow.
