Can anyone recommend some light hearted reading. I love good writing but I need something light to read. I've gotten bogged down in a few very heavy books recently and as I'm feeling a little fragile at the moment, for my sanity I need to steer clear of the heavy stuff.

I'm not all that into chick lit, happily ever after stuff though so its a bit of an ask

Have you read any of terry pratchetts books? V funny and very cleverly done.

Elinor Lipman is great for this kind of thing.

Just started Backseat Saints by Joshlyn Jackson. Its got great reviews, its womens fiction but I wouldn't call it chick lit. Really like it so far.

Just thinking of some specific titles...

Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris
Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon
Lost in Place by Mark Salzman

Does anyone remember the name of the fiction book by an Irish author about art fraud?? She was on Ireland AM.
It sounded quite good

Rules of Civility by Amor Towles is the best thing I have read in yonks! One of those books I was gutted to finish. DH who is so fussy about books also loved it;
