Just wondering what an acceptable time to ring people with the happy news is? By people, I mean parents.
3 of my 4 were born in the day time and 1 at 11 pm, so no problem there.
But what if the baby was born at say 4 or 5 am, what time would you ring the parents then?

I'd wait until 7 to ring I'd be afraid of frightening them with middle of night phone call. Plus they'd be too excited to go back asleep

On all 3 we were told to call whatever the time. Only once was it the middle of the night and that was our firstborn.

dd was born at 5.30am and I think DH must have rang the parents and family soon after... ds was 11am so much more respectable !

If they are waiting then middle of the night would be fine...

I know my parents would have wanted to know asap, although mine were born at 7:30am and 9:30pm so it wasn't really an issue for us.
I suppose if they know that you're in labour then a text when baby arrives, even if it's middle of the night, would be good. Just in case they are anxiously waiting for news like mine would have been!

Parents knew i had gone into hospital so werent sleeping very well as they were excited so we called when baby was born. ie 4am :D Others were born at a more civilised hour although remember the last. Had spoken to mum at 5.30pm and saying no sign of labour. Called her again at 9pm. She asked why was I calling and I said to let them know they were Grandparents again

My parents and sister wanted a call as soon as! Lucky only one out of the three was born when you normally wouldn't ring people - at 12.19am.

I rang my parents at about 11pm about DD but they knew I was being induced and had been texting all day looking for updates. This time they'll be minding her while I'm in labour so they'll be awake anyway, DD isn't a fan of sleeping at the moment.

Dh rang my parents when our first was born at 2.30am
They were thrilled, and so was the guest they had staying  (it had been a long time coming in fairness so they were waiting to hear whatever the time).

Mum was with me when I had DS, so she kinda knew! She texted my brothers and sisters, cos they were waiting - it was 1.30am.

DD was born at 7.30am, so I texted/rang straightaway

My Mother would have murdered me if I waited to call her, 3 of 4 were born @8pmish but DD3 was 1.45am and I think I was talking to her before 2am  I was induced on all 4 so they were waiting, my DD1 wanted to be woken to be told but we decided she could wake until am :Jumpy: I also rang my Bro and Sisters. I had be woken at 5.30 to hear about my DN and I had pretty much been awake alnight waiting for the call, checking phone every 1/2hr just in case I'd missed something, so when it came to DD3 I knew they'd be the same.

Mine were all daytime but I'd have rang at anytime. I couldn't keep that news to myself for long and I wouldn't want them hearing from someone else.

Dh rang my parents (and texted his) when dd1 was born at 02.45, my mother knew I was at the hospital and was waiting on the call. The other three were born at 09.39, 18.12 and 12.41 respectively so more civilised times to call people :D .

In our case when DD1 was born at 1:39 am his parents and sister were sitting in the car outside the hospital so he went out to tell them, and he rang my parents and sister.

On DD2 it was almost 11 am so much more civilised to be ringing people!

On DS I only rang DH at 6:15am to get his arse to the hospital ASAP, had to ring him back to make sure he knew to come straight away, and DS was born at 7 am so again it was a reasonable time to be ringing people..

I know when SIL had her 2 babies once she went in we were expecting a phone call at any time day or night...

DS was born at 3am and we rang at 8ish. Nobody knew I'd gone in except my brother who was minding DD1, and I was early, so there was nobody waiting for a call :D

The other 2 were born at 9pm and 8am.

Immediately - DD2 and DD3 were born at 5am and 7am and we rang as soon as they were both born. My parents were minding DD1 and DD2 anyway so my mother was awake waiting for news of both girls.

DD1 was born at 9pm.

Depends on if they knew I was in labour...
It didn't arise with my two, dd was born at 18:00 and ds at 17:40. But my criteria would be if they knew I was in labour... If I went into labour at 2am and therefore didn't ring them and baby was born at 6, then I'd wait till say 8. But I know if my parents knew I was in labour, they'd be worrying and I'd rather ring them and let them know all was safe than not ring.

Mine were 9.34am and 1.13pm so fine times to call. But my brother had his first child a few months ago. She was born at 3.30am and my mom and I were phoned straight away (he was under strict instructions to let us know asap!!!! We were just so excited!)

Ds was born at 2.10pm so not an issue. I know my parents would want a call immediately though, no matter the time!
