Hi all think have decided on the above name if we have a baby girl. However I much prefer the spelling Lia. Think there is a "fada" on the "I". Have many seen it spelled this way?

Lia is the name Leah in spanish and Italian. I absolutely love it and don't see why every nice name has to be irish-ified. Its not an irish name, leave it as it is. If I had a girl she would be Lia.

I was sure it was an Irish name as have seen it spelled with the " fada" over the "I". Do some people just add "fadas" to make names appear Irish?

Lía can be the short version of Líadan.

Dd1 is "Leah" and there is no Irish version of the name.
"Lia" looks nice too. IYKWIM - To me the name has to look nice written down too.
I didn't like dd2's name in the usual spelling but when I saw it spelt another way then I loved it!

DD has friend called Leia :)

Just bear in mind if u spell it any way other than Leah u will all spend the rest of her life correcting people on the spelling.

My ds is Eoghan and 3 yrs later even family members are still spelling it wrong :/

Leah is a fab name tho no matter how it's spelt. Good luck

I have a Leah, a name I'd picked since I was a kid myself. I got cards when she was born with Lia written on it. I have always loved the name, spelled either way. DDS have a surname that has an unusual spelling so I thought it was best to keep it simpler.

I thought Leah was Lay-a? Am I wrong? I'd assume Lia is Lee-a.
My French niece is called Lea with a french fada(!) on the e, pronounced Lay-a.

Agree, they're two totally different names in my opinion. If I saw Lia, I would pronounce it Lee-a. I prefer Leah (Lay-a).
