The athletics track in UCD is closed due to health and safety reasons.

I have to say that I remember going up to Belfield on Christmas day and cheering on the runners who were taking part in the Goal Mile when it was being run on this track. It was a fantastic facility and I for one am really sad to see it go - only to be turned (possibly) into yet another car park or more accommodation for students etc. etc. etc.

Couldn't they have maintained the surface of the track? Was it the bad ice & snow of last year that put the final nail in the coffin of the track maybe???
