Lots of red still on the bushes but it feels to me to be so late in the year. Anyone any local anecdotes>?

Mostly not ready here yet either. Lots of red and scutty ones with the odd good find of a bush filled with big ripe ones.
I think October is the month. We live on crumble in october

We've one field where we've been residing for the past month (bushes in the centre of the field, full sun). The other two fields where we usually go have very little ripe yet.

Hello again!

I picked a punnet full on a trip to Wicklow on Friday, but there were more unripe than ripe ones... I would say you would get enough now to make it worthwhile, just about, but not tonnes and tonnes.

Just picked some yesterday, just go enough for one crumble. Not many big juicy ones, and a lot of old dead looking ones .............

We were picking them a month ago here and while there are still some there they seem to be fading now. Sx

Bad crop this year: I was out a few times and in the last week all I found was faded red ones and lots of rotting black ones. Last year was a better year for blackberries alright.

Loads last year but this year all I see are wet rotting ones.
I think the rain has them destroyed. That and I suppose lack of sunshine to ripen them quickly ready for picking.

I saw loads today when I went for myh run. I stopped to eat one. It was ok - would have liked a little sharper taste. Lots of dark purple and a few red.

If I go to collect a few tommorow- what do I do with them?
