Hey all.
DM thats a brilliant A1c, I cried at a 7.0, you must have been so bloody chuffed with yourself!! and DOWN 12lbs - well done you!!
Dutchie - you are doing the same that I did and got some stupendous hypos
You are counting up the food, instead of counting the CARBS in the food.
So for example -
90g of cooked rice CONTAINS 30g of carbs so its only 3CHO.
100g of chips CONTAINS about 35g of carbs so again, its only 3.5CHO
Apart from that, your maths are fine. Just remember its the weight of the carbs in the food, not the weight of the food that you measure! There are a few really good iPhone and Android applications that I use to help work stuff out.
Pizzas are a bitch to work out cos it depends on the size of the crust. I either measure them and go by the DAFNE book or look at the back of the box. I tend to avoid them cos they take up so much insulin and i'm NEVER on target after my meal and its just not worth it.
I'm doing good. I didnt get UTD in Spain despite lots of action, DH cant "complete" if he's even had 2 drinks and he had a drink most nights over there. Thank goodness he rarely drinks at home!! My A1c must have taken a battering while I was on holidays, my levels went totally nuts after I came home but I think I can only really blame my hormones. I'm going to have to get a new Basal profile for my pump for after I ovulate. I couldnt get under a 10 for about 4 days and then came crashing down when I got my period. Grrrrrr. On another note, I really feel like I'm losing weight or toning up at least. I'm a lot more active since my knee operation and just feel like i'm getting more done etc. All good.
The dog is doing magic - she's an absolute angel. She never whines at night now, only pees or poos on the newspaper and is playing brilliantly with Isabella. She is also eating me out of house and home - she was on 3x45g meals 12 days ago, she is now on 70g, 40g and 70g. Its cheaper to feed Isabella

She's a collie-mix, we think border and long-haired.
Here she is:
