I have it in the slow cooker and the smell of it has me starving. I wasn't planning on eating it until about 8.

Here is one I made a few weeks ago, looks like I added mushrooms :)

This was absolutely gorgeous, the flavours were so intense. I only added half the stock so I didn't need to reduce the sauce at the end. The sauce was 100% perfect after the 2 hours. And the shredded salad was gorgeous.

I served it basmati and wild rice with spinach which was a side dish from the parallel food club and it worked really well with this dish.

It was so unusual but the flavours really worked. I did find the chillies a bit overpowering in the salad though, think I would just add a bit of finely chopped chilli next time.

Will be a favourite here.

How many will this amount serve girls? I'm making it for tonight, I have an extra guest coming and wonder should I get more meat?

How much meat are you using? I used about 1.75lbs of meat and would easily have gotten 6 decent sized portions out of it, except DH made a savage of himself and couldn't get enough of it!!

We got 2 days of dinner out of it all though (salad too), my portion would be much smaller than DH's though and the girls only had 2 to 3 pieces of meat. I shredded the carrots with the large end grater instead of cutting them into matchsticks also.

Oh good, I have about the same amount so should do us grand. I'm really looking forward to this, never cooked with beef shin before and the butcher was singing its praises, he said its fantastic cooked slowly.

Thanks a million for the quick reply, will let you know how it turns out.

I haven't done a new food club dish in months, but I knew as soon as I saw the title that this would be one I'd love and it didn't disappoint. Did it in the slow cooker, and even though it had about 8 hours it could have done with more. The carrot salad was absolutely delicious.

Loved this, looking forward to having the rest another night & will definitely do this again

wow - that was one of THE tastiest things I have ever cooked!! Just had the leftovers reheated for lunch and it was even nicer today!!!

I had no oyster sauce so I threw in a tablespoon of fish sauce and I didn't have rice wine vinegar, I used red wine vinegar instead. It had 3.5 hours on high in slow cooker then I reduced the sauce in a pot.
The salad I made as per recipe but added in a pack of sliced mangetout to bulk up my veggies for the day. When I tasted it before having it all together I thought it was far too hot for me with all the chillis and when I tasted the beef I thought it was a bit sweet - but everything together - oh my god - flavour explosion!! Served it with a little white rice.

Big thumbs up here too!

I didn't think the sliced chillis in the salad would go down well so I finely chopped them and mixed into the dressing.

whole thing was delicious and so easy to make. I did it in the slow cooker and then just transferred the meat to the oven to keep it warm while I reduced the sauce on the hob.

will deffo be making this one again!

Probably the only way I'm ever going to make "Stew" again. This was amazing. I couldn't stop picking out the beef pieces. It was soooooo tasty. Really really great dish. I cooked it in a casserole in the oven for 4 hours. Perfect, loved it.

(didn't get a picture of it, have second half of it in the freezer to have this weekend, will photograph it then)

I got a lump of round roast at half price in tesco across the road and just cubed it. Was perfect.

Yum yum yum yum yum!!! This was absolutely delicious!!! Loved the mix of the beef and the salad. If i had a criticism, it would be that there was no veg in the dish, so next time i'd add mushrooms and peppers and maybe another veg. So so tasty though, and there's another dinner for the freezer! We were absolutely starving so didn't take any pics i'm afraid.

Big thumbs up from us, and i'll definitely make it again.

My parents are coming up for dinner tomorrow so I think I will make this for them.
Will it be ok without the garlic, they're both allergic?
