girls - for those of you that have this on "day 2" can you reheat - my mum always told me it was dangerous to reheat rice?

Hate to say it but it's not rubbish :lookround: - there is a risk of botulism by reheating rice. Saying that, it's only if there was botulism spores present in the first place and very very unlikely when you're cooking at home. It used to be a fairly common food poisoning from chinese takeaways where reheated rice was used for fried rice....

Saying that - I cook this dish lots and love to bring a smaller portion for lunch (reheat in the microwave in work) the following day - so doesn't concern me in the least and agree the flavour is more intense :D

I love this recipe! Made it yesterday and it was fab, and as you've all said, it's much nicer the second day.

Even more amazingly my DD ate it! She hates mixing her food and would usually have a bowl of plain rice and then maybe some chicken but she decided this looked good and couldn't get enough of it.

So a big hit in the Hokeypokey household....thanks

I made this tonight for the boys for the second time. I put it on the table 20 minutes ago and every plate is clear (DS1 is on seconds). Love this recipe and had never made it before the food club.

Finally got to try this out. My sister and her husband were visiting and we all devoured it!! Still plenty left and in the freezer.

Didn't even give it to kids - too spicey! If leaving out spices so that kids might eat it too, which ones would you leave out?

Fiona

I use double the amount of stock and white rice and it helps a lot. It still has no liquid as such but it is moist.

I used white rice too and it was very moist (no sauce as such)

I'm going to try it without the sausage th next time (to cut the fat content down a bit).

We must be savages in this house cos we had no leftovers :lookround: I only used 1/3 of the amount of sausage also just in case

The sausage does give it some of it's lovely flavour so I wouldn't get rid of it all together, maybe just reduce the amount. I use 150g (half a Lidl chorizo) and find that's enough. I also don't use oil as I find the chorizo lets out enough to cook the onions.

To make it moist, you could add extra tomato. I had loads of fresh tomatoes that were about to turn so I blended them and threw them in last week, it was the nicest version we've had to date.

To remove the spice you should loose the chilli .. that's the hottest part.

We love this, had it once a week before summer and now it's back on our menu. Thanks again LoMo

Made this in the slow cooker the other day, it came out great! Followed the recipe until after the addition of tomatoes/stock, boiled it for a min then threw it into the slow cooker. Cooked it on Low for 2.5 hours & it was perfect. Oh, I used brown rice. :)

I made this again tonight, I just keep coming back to this one - such a good recipe. I do find it needs more liquid than the recipe states though. I've made it with both white and brown rice, yummy either way.

xL.

I finally got around to making this and it was just as fab as promised. We don't like celery so I added leeks instead and upped the stock. We all ate it and dh, myself and dd all had seconds... Gorgeous!
Oh and dh often complains about brown rice and he didn't this time.

I'd add more stock and a spoon of tomato puree. Always works fine for me!

Well I had a portion it was yummy but too spicy for me so I mixed my portion with creme fraiche
Will let you know dh verdict later when he wakes up to go on night shift
I had to add extra chicken stock too as my brown rice took ages to cook

And maybe I'm used to blander foods or I was too liberal with my spices but it has an interesting kick to it wow !! I used turmeric chilli paste and Cajun spices :nervous:

Thanks for the recipe so handy to cook all in one pot
