Had unexpected dinner guests yesterday so had to spend few bob in Dunnes. Using this thread is definitely helping me I was in Dunnes again today for a look around and didn't buy anything out of food budget. I did buy other bits and bobs but they are for DS2 so they don't count

It's definitely helping me too! Only 7 days into the month and I've already spent 35% of my budget
Although the 2 freezers are full so my aim is to use up everything so I can turn off the power hungry 2nd freezer

I have a budget of €800 this month, as I had intended going for a stores shop up North. But then I realised I have a lot still in the cupboards to use up first.

I've already spent €190, because I got a lot of alcohol on offer as I am hosting a couple of events over the coming 2 months (a couple of BBQs for neighbours, work colleagues and a group of friends) so I stocked up when I saw the ones I'd use anyway. And I had to get a load of sugar for jam-making.

We spent hardly anything on this week's actual "food shopping" - I got chicken, bread and milk, but we are otherwse eating from stores and from veggies from the plot. We had peas, roasted turnips, roasted patty pan squash and new potatoes, all homegrown, with roasted chicken breasts last night - delish!! And I have a load of broad beans to use as well.

This week, I think I will only need sandwich meat, bread, milk, fruit, yoghurt and meat for 1 dinner (probably lamb chops) - so I will do that in the small local supermarket rather than going to a large one and being tempted.
