That's if you do celebrate! We are big into birthdays in our family. Love planning special days for the kids. Next week dd will turn 3 and she will have 3 celebrations as I can't get everyone together on the same day. Her birthday is mid week and I usually prefer when they fall on a weekend so it means everyone is off and can be here on the one day. She will have a party on Sunday with her friends, then on her actual birthday on Wednesday we will probably have a wee tea party with her Aunt and Uncle, later that night my mum and dad will fly over for 2 nights so we will have another wee celebration with them on the Thursday, we will probably head to the kids favourite Italian. I can't wait.

Though it's an expensive month for us with having had ds's communion and Ss turned 18 today  We will be out for dinner for his birthday on Sunday night, next week is not looking good for the waistline. Dh will be having 2 of his kids parties on the same day

Go on holiday! That is what I have done for both of his birthdays so far and will continue to do so until he reaches an age in school where taking a week off in May is not acceptable and/or he starts wanting big gifts instead. It's one way of getting a summer hol in without feeling too bad about the price :)

Ŵe love birthdays here too. DS1 will be 8 next week so we're having is party in the house the day before his birthday and i'll have a tea party on his actual birthday, will ask our next door neighbours in as we get on great with them. I'll be baking loads so i'll stick stuff in the freezer for the tea party.

DS2 will have a little party in playschool on the day of his birthday and i'll have a party the weekend before or after for him. My boys generally end up with 2 parties, one big one and a little tea party!!

I make a big thing of their birthdays by always decorating the dining room the night before with balloons, decorations, banners etc., If the birthday is during the week - we'll just have a birthday cake after dinner and he's allowed choose what dinner is that day. Then the weekend before or after the actual birthday we'll either have a party or go out - really depends on finances and what the child wants.

Last year for DS1s birthday, myself, DH, DS1 and DS2 went bowling, played pool and went to TGI Fridays. Last Saturday I had a party in the house for DS2's birthday (which was the previous Wednesday) where all the boys from his class were invited - we had loads of goodies, played games and he had a another cake.

DD1 was 12 in March and she had a sleepover party with all her pals. I decorated the house for her the night before. She also had cheer training on the day of her birthday and i brought a cake in and they all sang happy birthday etc..
I also had a tea party with the grandparents, uncles etc and cooked a load of finger food. I made the malteser explosion cake for her also.

It is DD2's birthday in 2 weeks and we will be away for the actual day itself, so I am having a tea party with a few of her friends on the bank holiday friday. Then on the saturday I am going to have a lunch party thingy with the grandparents, uncles etc. I am making her a princess castle cake hopefully lol. We go away then on the Sunday and we are going to over to my brother, SIL and niece. It is my niece's 2nd birthday the end of this month so we are going to have a double party over in Spain while we are there.

I am so so excited. haven't seen my niece since she was 3 months old.

With DS, we have a small tea party with grandparents, aunts/uncles on his actual birthday. Then he will have his party at the weekend - the last one was an Apache Pizza making party and a sleepover (only 3 others thankfully!). He will then have another small celebration in his dads.

With DD, we have only had family & small amount of friends over for a tea party. She has another celebration in her dads. This year she has already asked can she have her party in the local playcentre, so we will see when November comes around!

My ds' birthday is Tuesday and dd's is in 3 weeks, so a hot topic here!!
This is the one weekend we could get all of both families around, so everyone is coming over on Sunday for a family party for both kids. Then ds will have a party at playschool and a tea party here on Tues.
Then there's a proper birthday party for ds' friends on Thurs and dd's non-school friends.
There'll be a teaparty at home for dd's birthday on the actual day and herself and a friend are having a joint party for their classmates...
