The most thoughtful gift i was given was a good few packets of nappies, in various sizes.

You could do this and throw in a few packs of baby wipes, nappy bags etc!

My twins were born are 35 weeks, so not as early but thy were in scbu for 16 days. I had a section so I had limited access to see them for 1st few days.
My sister printed and framed the picture I sent her of the twins, I can honestly say it was the best gift I received :inlove:

My auntie got me a hamper with calpol, wipes saline spray etc,Im still using things 5 months later.or money would be a good option.if they live far away from the hospital like we did the money we spent on petrol was crazy!!possivly the most special thing you could give is time and support.offer to bring her to hospital.its emotional and tiring having a baby in hospital and i used to love talking about normal things or having 40 winks in a friends car.hth.

We got various vouchers for Dunnes Stores and M&S.....and soooo many clothing gifts. The vouchers were great because when the dust settled and we knew the practical things we needed we could go get bibs, nappies, muslins, loads of vests in M&S and babygros.

While my Prem was in neo one of the best things i got was a decent hand cream. You can get clothes for them later.

LOL did I give you that??
Someone gave me diprobase, saved my hands. Best gift ever.

Don't OFFER lifts or dinners, just do it. Say "I'll see you at x time with your dinner" or "what time do you have to be there, I'll pick you up, I'm going that way (lie)".

If they were unexpectedly early, chances are they don't have everything they need. An Argos mothercare, tony kealys catalogue bunch is very handy for them to research stuff. Then ask if you can get stuff for them, awkward stuff like cots and nightlights, collect stuff they're borrowing.

Also, the basics for the babies. smallish (small baby rather than early, around 5-7lbs) vests and baby grows are essential. Also as they need to be reminded that the babies WILL be coming home soon. A framed pic of them is lovely too, I loved mine.

Also a baby book specifically for premature babies and twins is lovely to record all their milestones and little stories. Try this one http://tinylittlebaby.co.uk/

My twins were 34 weeks. Lots of great suggestions particularly time or a home cooked meal. You could contact bliss for some free literature. If you want to buy nappies ecobaby.ie sell moltex nappies which are all that will fit premmies. Maybe two snowsuits in prep for them leaving hospital but get prem size.

Edited to add a wash and dry of clothes from the babies would be a godsend .
