The Oireachtas are currently trying to push through the 2009 Adoption Bill and the content of it I am sure is of interest to adopted people, people who have an adopted child or people who are currently trying to adopt.

A new group called Adoption Rights Alliance has been formed to ensure that the rights of adopted people - children and adults - are enshrined in the proposed new legislation. There are many omissions in the proposed legislation despite an extensive consultation process that took place in 2003 - much of what people said at that time is being completely ignored in the proposed new Bill as it currently stands including the very basic right of someone to know that they are actually adopted!

More information about it can be found at www.adoptionrightsalliance.com

We are asking anyone with an interest in the subject to lobby / write to their local TD's. Sample letters can be found by following this link. All support would be greatly appreciated.... thanks
