Just wondering as our 8 month old pup never does! In fact she rarely pees when we're out, so I'm not sure if she's still too young or if she's just not bothered. She's very submissive when we meet other dogs - rolls over onto her back straight away, so maybe she doesn't feel the need to mark her spot yet?

Females don't tend to as much as a male would. A female would empty her bladder were a male will store a little for the next tree. :D As she is coming into season she will want to advertise the fact but other than that she's being practical and going when she actually needs too.

We have one of each and when the female pees - the male has to make his mark - which invariably leads him to stick his head in under her when she is going so he can get as close to his mark!

jammymammy, younger boys don't lift their legs and I know a 3 year old who just couldn't be arsed.

Ah so she may or may not, wasn't sure if it was her age. Incidentally do you think her being so submissive is something she'll grow out of? It actually seems to make some dogs aggressive to her as if she's giving them the upper hand and they can't help having a little go at her(snapping). I've had a couple of other dog owners saying they've never seen their dogs do it :dontgetit: . Have to keep her on the lead the whole time as she is so friendly and wants to run and play with every dog she sees and obviously not all dogs are on her wavelength :satisfied:

It's good she is being submissive, after all she is the one that knows what vibes they are giving off. In my experience owners tend to say they have never seen their dogs being aggressive and like to blame your dog for it. You'll learn. ;)

Our fella is exact same! He only pees when he needs to and doesn't lift his leg either. I would have thought at over a year old he would start to pee like a big dog but reckon hes of the couldnt be arsed variety

We have another of the "couldn't be arsed, pees like a girl" variety. He's never lifted his leg in his life, doesn't mark, pees like a girl, but poos on the move....don't ASK me what that's about!!

He's nine years old. Actually nearly ten, now that I think of it.

That reminds me of the scene in The Full Monty!

Another one here with a boy who pees like a girl.
