Hi Ladies

Just wondering if any of you would know when the hospitals stop following up on premature babies. My dd was born 10 December at 30 wks + 4 days gestation, she spent the next 7 weeks in the unit at the Coombe. She had her six weeks (corrected) check up in March, then another developmental check up in May and she is due back at the end of September for another one. Last time we were there they were very pleased with her progress and happy with how she was coming along, so just wondering will that probably be the last one or will they keep an eye on her until she is a year old??

my twins were born in Holles St at 29wks and they'll continue to see them at 6mth intervals up until they're 2yrs corrected age. They were happy with their development at their last check, but it's their policy to see premies until age 2 as problems such as speech delay might not become evident before then

that's great thanks a mill Beanie, was just curiosity really - never think to ask these questions when i'm in there!!

Thank god she is doing great, her sight & hearing is so far good and she is due back for checks on those in December also.

isn't is amazing how early they can be born, and how tiny they can be but yet so strong!
