But Sweden won, they're not an Eastern bloc country.

Think the UK should pull out, they will never get anywhere. They should stay at home and console themselves with xfactor and BGT instead! All that money the Beeb spend!

Coz he is fine!

T'would be the final brick in their anti Europe stance alright if they did that. :lookround: Or maybe the Hump was. Lol.

Yeah but Angelika yiu can't deny they all vote for.each other. Not a block vote (sorry) but for their neighbours which leaves UK etc on the sidelines unless they come up with some amazing offering. Then that leaves the 12 points for one or two songs while 6,8,10 go to the neighbours rsther than other songs giving a bit of excitement to it and a bit of competition.
Don't get me wrong its all a bit of a laugh/irrelevance anyway. But would love a bit more.excitement in votes.
Also does anyone know how much txt vote counts per country? if some countries have a larger young population or immigrant population e..g. Turkey/Germany or higher mobile phone user ratio then gives the edge. Its not just political voting from the judges..it is also from the polpulace~their neighbours, families etc.

I sense a bit of a Stockholm syndrome in this country

(irony in the fact that Sweden actually won)

Oh of course they vote for their neighbours, but in this case, Sweden was the clear winner so I think that's fair enough. I think the text vote is 50% and the jury 50% but not certain on that. I don't really see how you can stop the general public in a country voting for their neighbours though. And I guess there is some argument to say that neighbouring countries probably have similar musical tastes, so if a song win the national song contest in one country, it makes sense that their neighbours will also like it.

Why did we give germany 10 points? does enda kenny do the voting now too?

I would have thought it was hilarious if Greece had won. Turns out europe does not have that great a sense of humour....

Rubberbandits next year maybe?

Not sure if this has been mentioned further upthread but is the Swedish entry not a total rip-off of Katy Perry's 'Firework'??

Mine have been singing the Russian Grannies' song all day - they even have DD2 singing it after showing it to her on Youtube this morning :sigh:
