I'll be honest and say this wasn't my plan for weaning dd3. I prefered to introduce them to lots of tastes mashed up, frozen and generally very easy for me as I have three under four to feed. Worked well for dd1 and 2 but as is always the case dd3 has other ideas. She is not massively impressed by Annabel Karmel and just wants lumps of food (preferable from our plates too). She eats a whole brioche (soft bread roll) for lunch no problem at all and it was lumps of potato, courgette, broccoli and chicken last night from our chicken pie as she turned her nose up at chicken, Sweet potato and apple mashed. She is well able for a spoon as I tested her with yoghurt and she devoured it. She will eat mush as she will suck on a Ella pouch on her own no problem.

So, despite it terrifying me I think I am going to have to try the Blw approach. Anyone know where I can get a book or advice pls? Will need some ideas for food/ recipes too!

I have the BLW book that explains the basics, you are more than welcome to borrow it. I also have the BLW cookbook which I would recommend, but I am still using that.

The book Baby Led Weaning is very good as mentioned above. There is also a website with a forum which i found very helpful www.babyledweaning.com. Also there are a few threads here with ideas.

It was a great success for us with DS2 though I did a combination of BLW and spoon feeding in the earlier days and gave DS his own spoon at the same time. I found soft fruits like melons pears peaches etc good for starting off as well as cooked carrot sticks, slices of chicken, pasta, wholemeal bread etc after a while.

Enjoy!

Have a look the Baby led weaning facebook page aswell https://www.facebook.com/babyled its very active we found it a great help for recipe ideas when starting out. Now we dont make anything different she just has what we are having, dont have to bring special dinners out with us she just picks off all our plates!!
