DS1 was transverse but they either didn't know or didn't tell me as I was pushing they announced hes back to back to me. They said they would have to section me if it took much longer to get him out or use foceps & other equipment. i got him out myself with no intervention & no stitches after :) twas tough as he was my 1st too but the epi helped.

Good luck

Ds was transverse too and from 36 weeks I spent my time in an out of hospital ...they kept admitting me and then he would turn and they let me out....
I was admitted again at 39 plus 2 days and he was transverse and they didnt section.... thye let me out 3 days later as he turned again.... they told me no way would he go back transverse at 39 plus s 5 days... I had more chance of winning the lotto than that happening they told me

So went for my check the following week at 40 plus 5 and he was back transverse again :( ... I was sectioned the following morning

DS2 wh is now 4 months was spinning baby till 37 weeks when he turned right way down and I went to 40+8... they kept scanning me every week up till that to see... he'd been going transverse & breech ...
I didnt feel him spin to correct position at all... and he was big and my tummy was very tight so they were very surprised I hadnt felt him move.

Updated here a second ago but my reply vanished :lookround:

Thanks very much for all the replies and stories... turns out the GP was even more incompetent than she let on.. head is still down and is apparently engaged. I'm completely relieved but absolutely furious at the same time!

Anyway, if I've learned anything it's that I really need to have my bags packed at this stage :D

Great update Mambo. I'd be really livid with the time you've wasted worrying and going to the hospital.

My people are at this very moment keying her car (they did the wrong one earlier).

Thanks ladies, oh I am livid - I'll be sticking with the hospital from here on out for any further appointments.

4littlemen - for the love of God just put your kids to bed, Mr and Mrs McCarthy's car is ruined. :)

Wow what a complete idiot of a gp!

There aren't many times in life to be furious & relieved at the same time- this baby will have a great birth story to tell in the years ahead :)

Jesus I'd want to murder the fool of a gp though

Such a relief for you - what a fuckwad to cause you that amount of stress and hassle so close to the birth... :stern:
Best of luck for the next while Mambo, will be looking forward to reading your announcement.

you might consider discussing ecv with a controlled ARM - they basically turn the baby head down and then break the waters to get the baby to engage without risk of cord prolapse - not sure if every consultant would do this but its worth discussion if you want to avoid a caesarean

my last baby was transverse, breech, then settled head down oblique and eventually got in better position in early labour, so I did not have to try it.

ha ha

If it's any consolation my obs had a feel of my bump on dd1 and thought she'd gone head down. I just said, hmmm we'll see... So he whipped out his scanner and she was still breech. Scarleh for him
