This should be interesting - the very first Indian Grand Prix takes place this weekend. Wonder who will get pole - will it be Vettel or will one of the McLaren drivers take it away from him at the last moment.

Is it on BBC cos I don't see it anywhere else. I can see Hamilton sneaking in there. Go on the MacClaren.

I tried posting on this yesterday but for some reason this thread was the only one that kept timing out on me.

Anyway, mad4lfc - the BBC have coverage of the free practice sessions on their Red Button (if you have Sky as I don't know whether NTL do the 'red button' thing on their system) and you need to select 3001 - which should be Sports interactive.

Qualifying will be shown on BBC but as it's live in India, you will have to be up early to watch it.

I do be up nice and early anyway. We usually watch the motogp thank God I wasn't watching last week because dd1 watches with me and that wouldn't hae been nice to explain.

I wonder what the indian circuit will be like. What sort of speed will they be able to get up? What tyres they'll be on? I haven't been watching in ages. Not properly. The last time I watched a full season was the year of the EJ10 so a while ago but i'd love to get back into it.

From all reports so far, the track is incredibly dusty and isn't offering the grip that the drivers or tyres need to get up to the really fast speeds.

You've been out of the loop for a while if the last time you were following it was back with the EJ10...you do know the updated rules about tyres and refueling in the pit lanes has stopped etc...

What about refueling in the pit lanes? I've been half keeping an eye on how MacClaren do but that's about it. I used to love Mika Hakkinen. Oh now I'm showing my age. I can't believe I've missed so much of it but they stopped showing it on RTE and I didn't have BBC back then poor, only married and starting a family don't cha know.
Pity about the track but it also doesn't surprise me muc and I have a feeling that the speeds are going to be reduced anyway with the crashes over the last couple of weeks. Deaths make changes to Formula 1 and all the way down.

The bit about refuelling in the pit lanes - the teams must now fill their tanks with enough fuel to get them to the end of the race (and leave enough in the tank for the officials to check it). They don't refuel in the pit lanes and haven't for the past 2 seasons (this one and the last one).

They also have a defined number of sets of tyres and they must use both compounds (unless it is a wet race) during the race.

In relation to the Indian Grand Prix - I don't know what it is about Massa & Hamilton but they just keep crashing into each other. It's getting a bit boring now, I want them to stop.
There were officials from the Bahrain GP (which was supposed to be the season opener but was cancelled) helping out at the Indian GP which I thought was great. I also thought that the race itself was good and the track looks like it could be one of the regular ones that will feature for many many seasons to come.

Martin Whitmarsh (Team Principal of McLaren) reportedly said that they should limit the season to 20 races especially as there are many long haul flights (and the expenses etc) involved in getting through the season.

I'm looking forward to seeing the New York/New Jersey race coming on stream and also the new Texas race that is planned for next year.

God I have a feeling that the Texan one will be one to see. You know the yanks bigger and better. I couldn't believe how many of the drivers are actually still there that I know. Although long gone are the days of Kimi and Mika, Ralf Schumacher (do you remember that crash) Eddie Irvine.

I was watching the other morning and noticed the pit stops are a few secods shorter than they used to be. A few seconds can make a massive difference.

Thanks for the catch up. Just when you say it I think I read something about it but it just passed over me probably while I was pregnant. I seem to miss so much information that way.

I'm following COTA (Circuit of the Americas) on Twitter and they post new pictures everyday, I think the track will be amazing especially that run up to turn one that DC was rolling the tyre down the other day. Another street track could be quite exciting for New Jersey aswell
