On a desk top you press the Print Screen/SysRQ button and then paste.

Not sure whether its the same on a laptop

Is there a button on your keyboard that says PRTSC/SYSRQ?

Press it. That'll put the screen in to the clipboard. Use paint to copy it in and you can see the whole screen as a picture.

Ctrl + Alt + Prt Scr all held down together

Then you can paste the screen shot into a word doc or paint window or whereever you want really

Press prt Sc then press ctrl c then go into all programs - accessories - paint. In paint click edit drop down menu will come up click paste and you should have a copy of the page you are viewing.

Nothing happens when you press the button. The picture of the screen just goes in to the clipboard (invisible to the naked eye  ) it's when you paste in to another file that you'll see it. So open another application, I personally think paint is the best one to use and copy there, let us know what happens.

On my laptop, it's Fn + PrntScrn together, then Ctrl + V to paste into Paint or WordPad.

On mine you just press Prt Sc/SysRq in the top right hand corner, no need for Ctrl or Alt or any function key. Just use your normal paste method in Word etc and you should have your screen shot.

The easiest way to post it in a reply would be to go into PowerPoint and paste it onto a slide, filling it fully iykwim. Then go to F12 or Save As and save the slide as a JPG, when prompted click Current slide only. This will have the screensheet in graphic format and you can attach it below using the Browse/Add the file area.

Edited to say did a test run and it works fine, here's a print screen of the magicmum page I was on!
