Finally starting to do some Food Club recipes and tried this one tonight - major hit (with us adults anyway!). We had it with rice noodles - will do rice next time to soak up more of the sauce. I halved the sauce recipe as I used the 450g pack of stewing beef from M&S - it was super tender after two hours in the oven. I used the Aldi sherry, rice vinegar (as against rice wine vinegar - is there a difference?) and had everything else in stock bar the star anise, which I was able to getting M&S.

LOVED the salad - that would work really well with shredded cooked chicken through it as a meal in it's own right....

We'll be making this again, thanks!

Couple questions - will I need to increase meat quantity to serve 5 adults+2kids - 2kg?

I'll be doing it in slow cooker, just wondering about reducing the stock, is the concentration of other flavours not out of whack then?

any ideas for a starter before this?
