Mum's horror upon discovering she’s gone ‘viral’ for all the wrong reasons

Recently, a mum was horrified to discover a photo of herself online, breastfeeding her child, which was accompanied by a shaming message; now, another mum in the States has endured a similar experience this week.

Mum-of-two Erica Kalnins was horrified when her sister-in-law informed her that a photograph of her and her daughter had been posted to Facebook without her knowledge, and had gone viral.

The photo in question showed Erica carrying her tired five-year-old daughter in a baby-carrier during a shopping trip in a local store.

The damning caption written by the Facebook user, read: “This is the kind of ignorance that gets passed down to kids…This girl is at least 5, but [what] you don’t see in this picture is the one-and-a-half-year old in the stroller.”

In a shocking development, it emerged that the post had actually been created by a manager of the store in which Erica was shopping. Upon Erica’s request, the Facebook user deleted the post, but Erica did not receive an apology.

Needless to say, the incident left her feeling as though her privacy was violated by the post.

“It’s not acceptable to be photographed while I am shopping at a business with my five-year-old – and bash that person and post it on the internet,” said Erica, in the aftermath.

She added: “My daughter does not have special needs, but what if she did have special needs?…As mums, we have the same goal – to raise them with love and compassion – and we should not judge parenting style.”

Thankfully, mums all over the world have reached out to Erica since the post went viral, with many sending on photos of themselves carrying their own children.
