Mum left horrified by what she found in her baby's formula

baby bottleA mum in Australia was left horrified when she opened her baby’s formula tin only to discover a foul smell before realising there was a dead gecko inside.

Mum, Artilina Castanares bought the tin of S-26 Original Progress in a supermarket in Sydney and immediately posted a picture of the dead reptile on the supermarket’s Facebook page. She urged the supermarket to recall the product for fear of contamination.

Artilina also uploaded an image of the product to her own Facebook page and urged mums around the Sydney area to share the information so they could avoid the product.

After calling the product’s customer service line, “Careline,” she was told to return the tin to the head office, Aspen.

In response to the issue, Aspen initiated a voluntary recall of the affected batch number 40727482A2 but outlined that it was an industry only recall rather than a consumer.

General Manager at Aspen Nutrionals Austraila Pty Ltd., Mr. Voordouw, apologised for the incident, saying: “We sincerely apologise for any inconvienience this voluntary batch withdrawal may cause. An alternative batch of S-26 Original Progress will be distributed from our warehouse today and should be available in most retail outlets by the end of the week.”
