Irish TV presenter opens up about her ‘traumatic’ labour

maura_001TV presenter, Maura Derrane, has opened up about her difficult birth in a blog post for First 1000 Days.ie.

The new mum gave birth to son Cal back in May, and says she is only now getting back on her feet.

Now, from her home place on Inishmore, she described just how serious her difficult labour was: “Cal’s birth was traumatic. I suffered a massive bleed six week before my due date and that, coupled with the caesarean certainly added to my slow recovery.”

Maura also spoke about dealing with Cal as a premature baby: “As a premature baby Cal’s organs are still developing and he suffers from wind after a lot of his feeds. It is so hard to watch him squirm in pain but the doctors tell me it will pass as he gets a bit older.”

Thankfully, the little boy is thriving and mum is on the mend, congratulations again to the star and her husband, John Deasy.
