Dad makes shocking discovery during daughter's dental appointment

A trip to the dentist is enough to strike fear into any person, adult or child, so we can’t imagine how frightening this scenario was for all involved.

A dad in the US has spoken of his horror and outrage after finding his daughter screaming in a ‘body bag’ restraint during a dental procedure.

James Crow and his mother had taken his daughter, Elizabeth, to Smiles-R-Us dental practice to have a tooth pulled, but he grew concerned after hearing her screams from the waiting room.

Despite being told that he could not go in to calm his daughter, Crow approached the examination room anyway – and was horrified by what he saw.

Elizabeth had been strapped down to the chair with a type of body bag called a ‘papoose board’, which is apparently used to hold down ‘uncooperative’ children.

Needless to say, James and his mother, Evelyn, were very upset by what they saw.

“I couldn’t see her in the body bag, just strapped down to the bed. I couldn’t handle it,” said Evelyn.

While the local Board of Dentistry told the family that there are no regulations against using restraints on a child during a procedure, management at the dental clinic informed them that Elizabeth was placed in the restraint because she was ‘not cooperating’.
