Create a beautifully festive dinner table with these easy tips

Most years we get so caught up in the madness of Christmas Day and the stress of cooking a huge dinner that we completely forget to dress up the dinner table. We know everyone is happy with the great meal, but after all our effort, we feel everything should be perfect – TV Mums always have spectacular tables!

Don’t worry, we’re not mad enough to go to all that effort (fictional mums are just that – fiction) but some simple touches can really make a Christmas dinner table beautiful. Here are a few tips to spruce things up on December 25th using easily bought material from Woodies.

1. Stylish Christmas ribbon works beautifully to gather cutlery and when combined with vibrant red placemats, create an easy festive mood.  (Assorted Ribbon, €2.29)

3. These jar lights may be our favourite DIY decoration idea ever – they’re just so simple to put together! Pop the light into the jars and place at the centre of your table, alone or in a Christmas wreath.

4. For another simple homemade centrepiece, pop some decorative berries into a jar (Kilner Preserve Jar, €3.49) and combine with a 6cm Clear Ribbed T-light Holder (99c). Festive colours with a warm glow.

5. And finally, when it comes to place settings, why not do something different?
